SEO, Internet Marketing and Web Site Promotion Experience
I began creating and promoting web pages in 1994 while working in engineering design and drafting. I took a liking to the Internet and was fascinated at how the many many many major search engines decided what was important enough to offer it highly positioned in their search results. I spent a few years experiment with various search engine optimisation techniques and eventually learned of the importance of practicing high caliber white hat SEO rather than just manipulating the search engine into thinking I had created important webpages. I worked with all kinds of Internet marketing techniques throughout this learning curve too and still enjoy all the other ways to market web sites but have managed somehow to evolve as an effective search engine optimizer. I do get distracted sometimes and sway from the ethical SEO beam but I remain focused on developing my white hat search engine optimization skills. I never claim to be the best at SEO or guarantee #1 ranking in the results pages; what I do is significantly improve the visibility of web pages in competitively searched keyphrase environments. The marketing angle in all of this comes by maximizing the volume of qualified Internet visitors.
Ethical (WHITE HAT) Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Abilities
A good ethical search engine optimiser is an artist; a painter of words let's say and is a results pages visionary. Where once simple repetition of words qualified to be good enough to rank web pages well, the actual artistry of SEO came around 1996/97 when the major search engines became determined to combat spam web pages. Search became intelligently driven. Black Hat search engine optimizers became a dying breed who's skills were replaced with more trendy Grey Hat SEO strategies (link building schemes mostly). Gone from the SEO toolbox were favourite manipulation tricks like cloaking, hidden comments, hidden links, link dumping mechanisms, tiny text, useless blog articles … ultimately for the goal of having something the search engine deems useful to offer its searchers, something of unique value, obviously important web pages because of the care administered to the web page's content and its optimizable web page components.
Search Engine Optimization Experience
Concentrated on developing White Hat / Ethical SEO techniques since the beginning of the search engines. Dabbled in the off-site ranking influences (link manipulating) and various other shadier search engine marketing techniques but now exclusively concentrate on the on-site ranking influences. I continually study the Webmaster Guidelines and adhere explicitly to the search engines' standards for my SEO strategy will have long term effects in the search engine results pages (and my choice of SEO techniques will eventually lead to being a reflection of someone else's corporate image too).
